Yesterday, not-for profit organization Positive Legacy announced the forthcoming launch of a new online variety entertainment series, called the Positive Legacy Virtual Variety Show. The first episode of the series will air this Monday, May 11, at 8 PM EST, and its first guests will include bluegrass guitarist Larry Keel, as well as members of Dave Matthews Band, Fruition, The Motet, and more. The series will be streamed on both the official FaceBook page (linked here) and Youtube page (linked here) for Positive Legacy.
Positive Legacy, for those unfamiliar, is a 501(c)(3) not-for profit organization that, in their own words, “coordinates environmental and humanitarian service projects fueled by the power of music.” In the past, the organization has been involved with music events such as Strings & Sol, Panic En La Playa, Holidaze, and many more. Consequently, the intention behind the Virtual Variety Show is to help rise funds for music artists, and those that work behind the music scene, in this financially unsure time in which concerts, festivals, and other live entertainment events are not happening.
There will be a virtual tip jar posted with each stream of the Virtual Variety show via Positive Legacy’s official Venmo: @positive-legacy. So far, Positive Legacy has announced that it has raised over $15K for this cause, called the Positive Legacy COVID-19 Relief Fund- Helping Those Who Make Live Music Events Happen, and if you wish to donate you can by clicking the following link: https://bit.ly/2x03cWV
In terms of the upcoming live streaming video content we can look forward to, it seems that the Virtual Variety show will be a mixture of various forms of entertainment and talent, with of course some music thrown in. From their official press release, Positive Legacy says:
We are pulling out all the punches and bringing you only the most quality entertainment such as cooking demos, drink making tips, stupid human tricks, game shows, dances, skits, acrobatic feats, and much more. Our first episode features Fishing Tips with Larry Keel, an Indian Rice cooking demo w/ Chef Archna and DMB’s Jeff Coffin, Fruition’s Jay + Megan doing a makeup couples content, a tune from members of The Motet, and more…
This could be a really good chance for fans to see their favorite artists in a completely different kind of setting, and learn something new about them, all while having a good time. In addition to the Virtual Variety Show, Positive Legacy has said that it will continue to collaborate with Cloud 9 Adventures in hosting weekly video releases of former Jam Cruise shows every Thursday at 8PM, such as they have been doing recently. This past Thursday’s show featured ALO’s 2011 performance at the resort festival.
