Yesterday, Montana-based jamgrass four-piece Kitchen Dwellers released a brand new video, a cover version of Pink Floyd’s “Hey You” that was filmed by Jeffery Neubauer of Neubauer Media and premiered on the Memphis, Tennessee television network DittyTV. Featuring the band’s guitarist Max Davies playing on a Fender strat, the cover gives a cool, amplified boost to Dwellers’ distinct “galaxy grass” style, while also imbuing the classic rock mega hit with a uniquely americana sound.
“Hey You” comes as a follow up to a first Pink Floyd cover that the band released just a few weeks ago, a version of “Pigs (Three Different Ones).” Both releases are tracks featured on the band’s forthcoming EP release Reheated Vol. 2, which will be the second installment in a series of EP releases that feature all cover songs. The EP is set to be released on July 31st and the band is currently crowd funding for a vinyl release via QRates, which you can check out and donate here by clicking if you’d like.

Despite the unusual circumstances for live music, Kitchen Dwellers have been making the most of some great opportunities. This past weekend, the band performed three nights at Beanstalk At The Drive-In, a socially distant version of the music festival hosted by jamtronica band Magic Beans. Coming ahead, on July 17-19, they will perform at home as part of a virtual version of Northwest String Summit, the pacific northwest’s premier bluegrass music festival which will also see performances from Greensky Bluegrass, Railroad Earth, Infamous Stringdusters, and many more.

From DittyTV:
“We collaborated with filmmaker Jeffrey Neubauer on this video of Pink Floyd’s ‘Hey You’ for the second installment in our Reheated series,” says guitarist Max Davies. “We had so much fun recreating some of the classic Pink Floyd sounds on this track and are super happy with how it came out. I even got to set up and plug in a Fender Strat in the mountains of Montana for a shot of the guitar solo. Filming a song about isolation, while in fact being in the middle of nowhere, really captured the mood of the song. We hope you enjoy it!”
We indeed hope you enjoy this world premiere of the Kitchen Dwellers video for “Hey You,” which despite its isolationist message offers the final line, “Together we stand, divided we fall.”
