Night Lights Music Festival, one of upstate New York’s premier live music experiences, will take place once again at the end of this summer on August 22-24, returning to its festival farm site The Heron in Sherman, NY. Earlier today, the festival released its lineup of artists.
In a unique move, headlining this year’s Night Lights festival will be internationally renowned DJ Girl Talk, along with formative 90s dance-punk band, !!! (Chk Chk Chk). Gracing the top of the list this year with those two will be Buffalo, NY jamband heroes Aqueous, who have played every Night Lights event since year two.
In addition to an Aqueous set, Night Light’s lineup shows something dubbed Uncle Mike’s Random Company, which looks to be a set lead by Aqueous lead guitarist Mike Gantzer, and joined by other members of the band along with members of moe. Dopapod, and Tauk. That alone should be enough for any jamband lover on the east cost to consider heading north that weekend.
Other bluegrass, rock and jam favorites from the northeast and beyond round out the festival’s impressive lineup, including Ghost Note, Sunsquabi, Big Something, Midnight North, Kitchen Dwellers, Goose, Of Clocks and Clouds, and a bunch more. Night Lights’ Artist at Large will be Rob Compa, so count on the Dopapod guitarist to show up in multiple sets throughout the weekend.
True to its name, Night Lights Music Festival is a must-see event in addition to being a must-hear one, with incredible lighting and visuals turning The Heron’s grounds into an amazing summertime display. In addition to music, the festival will have lists of vendors and other weekend activities coming soon. Full weekend passes are on sale now.
