Soulive have returned with fresh, funky sounds! Today, the legendary trio released a brand new EP, entitled Cinematics Vol. 1, which comes as their first collection of music in six years.
Cinematics, as the title implies, is inspired by the music of film composers like Jerry Goldsmith, Melvin Van Peebles, and others. The result is a pretty suave, ear-pleasing collection of tracks, that certainly helps to assure that the 19-year-old Soulive is returning as strong and as creative as ever in 2018.
Fans will get the chance to hear Soulive try out this new material next weekend, when the band plays two back-to-back nights at The Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, PA. But wait, there’s more! On night one, jazz guitar phenom John Scofield will join Soulive as special guest, with NYC’s jam-fusion trio Consider The Source playing an opening set. Night two will feature an opening set from D.J. Williams’ Shots Fired, which features members of Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Rubblebucket, Slightly Stoopid, and The Roots. That’s a whole lot of seriously masterful musicians lined up for two nights.
One of the new singles featured on the EP is “King’s March,” which also features a music video that you can check out below.
