Next month, modern rock giants Modest Mouse will storm through Port Chester, NY when they play two nights at The Capitol Theatre, on Friday, October 13 and Saturday, October 14.
Lineup changes and sudden hiatuses on the one side, world stages and year after year of achingly good music on the other side—the tumultuous road map of Modest Mouse’s career has always seemed to match the gritty, earnest realism of their own music. In their time, the band has authored a number of the most indelible albums of the last twenty years, and in doing so has helped to both put the northwest on the musical map and define the modern landscape of indie rock.
In the wake of all this, the result today gratefully adds up to Modest Mouse continuing to throw down some of the most inspiring shows of any band today. Their music has always been unapologetically intense, and in 2017 fans know that the band still leaves everything on stage night after night.
Meanwhile The Capitol Theatre is, as everybody surely knows, one of those special venues, where bands come to play their strongest shows. And the fall schedule for The Capitol Theatre is loaded. From multiple jamband giants like Sound Tribe Sector 9 and Umphrey’s McGee and Primus, to other rock icons like The Shins and King Crimson and Pixies, the Port Chester venue might be looking at it’s most legendary season of shows so far. But even in the context of all this insane music, Modest Mouse’s two nights at The Capitol Theatre will no doubt hit as some of the most memorable all year.
Opening up for Modest Mouse on both nights will be longtime fellow touring mates, experimental rock trio Mimicking Birds. Head to The Capitol Theatre’s website here to purchase tickets.
