Next Sunday, June 4, if you’re trying to get as much jam for your buck, then look no further than the Giant Jam Sandwich in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. It’s an all day “FloydFest Family Picnic” that is taking place at the picturesque Elmwood Park Amphitheater. Beginning at noon and lasting until 10 p.m., there will be full sets from a fine sampling of the best jam bands that FloydFest has to offer, including TAUK, Big Something, The Mantras, People’s Blues of Richmond, and the Sol Searchers, as well as The Werks.
All of these bands are very familiar with one another, as this is sure to be one heck of a family throw down as Big Something’s Nick MacDaniels expressed in an interview with The Poke around earlier in the month.
“[It will be] all the homies! We are good friends with all of those bands so it will definitely feel like a big musical family,” MacDaniels said.
Ready for the kicker? Tickets are only $20 in advance… and no that is not a typo. It’s a great value for the incredible music that will be displayed, and with plenty of outdoor activities, performing artists, vendors and food trucks, it will be fun for the entire family. This is one of those reunions you do not want to miss, so come on over and bring a blanket, for this first FloydFest Family Picnic.
