Umphreaks everywhere are anxiously awaiting the new and improved, second annual Chucktown Ball, which will be hosted at North Charleston Coliseum on September 23-24. Previously set to take place at Riverfront Park, the venue was changed due to recent weather damages in the area.
There isn’t anything quite like seeing Umphrey’s McGee in Charleston. With two members, bassist Ryan Stasik and percussionist Andy Farag currently residing there, there is always an air of ‘hometown’ love emanating from both the crowd and the heavy prog-rockers. At last years event, the crowd was treated to some of the best jams and most exciting covers of fall tour, such as the coveted ‘Women, Wine, and Song’, ‘Fool in the Rain’, ‘Night Nurse’ and a very enthusiastically greeted ‘Thunderstruck’ whose praise audibly echoed through the lively streets of Charleston for the rest of the evening. It is safe to say that this run will be one for the books and that people will once again be traveling from all over to catch the renowned rockers at their prime.
Besides a sure to be epic two night/ four set appearance from Umphrey’s McGee, the bill features a solid, well rounded and upbeat group of artists such as Moon Taxi, The Hip Abduction, The Floozies and local favorites Dead 27s. So clear your schedule and make sure to make your way down to the Low Country for a music-fueled weekend in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. Chucktown is readily awaiting the mass of smiling Umphrey’s fans.
