The 7th annual Festy Experience will take place this October 7-9 with a brand new location at Nelson Country Preserve, also known as the site of the popular Lockn’ Music Festival. The Infamous Stringdusters will be your gracious hosts once again, welcoming everyone to a ‘Dusters family reunion in their home-away-from-home, the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Nelson County, Virginia. The band spent their formative years in Charlottesville, quickly gathering a fiercely loyal fanbase and community that loves this music inside and out.
Joining The ‘Dusters for this autumn pickin’ party is an expertly curated lineup of old Festy favorites as well as some hot young newcomers. You won’t want to miss a show, with such artists as Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen, Sam Bush Band, Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn, Mary Chapin Carpenter, North Mississippi Allstars & Anders Osborne, Elephant Revival, Steep Canyon Rangers, Lee Ann Womack, Rubblebucket, Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, River Whyless, Cabinet, Fruition, The Lil’ Smokies, Jon Stickley Trio, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, Lord Nelson, and more.
Always a special weekend for The Stringdusters, the boys have some unique sets up their sleeves for the hometown crowd. Friday night will be headlined by a once-in-a-lifetime “Ladies & Gentlemen” set, featuring some of the most badass female vocalists and musicians around to recreate their latest album of the same name. A spiritual Sunday morning show never to be missed at Festy is The GarrettGrass Gospel Hour, in which fiddle-playing phenom Jeremy Garrett invites a slew of his favorite artists from the weekend to sing old-time songs for the soul.
As if all the amazing tunes were not enough, Festy-goers can also participate in sports such as disc golf, ultimate frisbee, kickball, soccer, volleyball; plus guided nature tours, trail runs, and hosted bike rides. Of course, they will still have an amazing yoga program, plus The 21st Annual Blue Ridge Burn 5k/10k race.
And not to go without mentioning, The Festy has added a new installment this year. Located in Canton, Massachusetts, the new event is called The New England Festy, and will take place this weekend (September 17-18) with headliners The Infamous Stringdusters, Greensky Bluegrass, The Wood Brothers, and more.
