Famed Athens rockers Widespread Panic will take their fall tour close to home this weekend with stops in Alpharetta, Georgia and Asheville, North Carolina. The band has stated that this will be their final extensive tour for a while.
The boys don’t plan on going out lightly. With Chicago progressive rockers Umphrey’s McGee opening with two full sets before Panic on Friday in Alpharetta, the jams will most certainly not be on short supply. The next night they’ll hit the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, which has already hosted Umphrey’s and The String Cheese Incident earlier this year. To no surprise, the band has already sold out the majority of their upcoming dates, ending the year with a triumphant three-night run in Nashville to ring in 2017.
What’s next for Widespread Panic? The band has stated that they will focus on multi-night runs and special events after this tour. We can only hope they’ll be around for some time to come!
