The String Cheese Incident blew the roof off the ExploreAsheville.com Arena for the second night in a row to close out their first doubleheader in Asheville in nearly a decade. To start off the party, Kyle Hollingsworth held a Brew Fest which featured music from The Travers Brothership along with an appearance by Hollingsworth himself.
The first set started with a celebratory “Can’t Wait Another Day,” and also saw “Come As You Are” shortly before a cover of Townes Van Zandt’s “White Freightliner Blues”. Featuring an especially funky Moon Rocks tease, “On The Road” had people dancing their way to intermission.
SCI jumped into “Colliding” and “Search” before handing it over to drummer Michael Travis and percussionist Jason Hann for a crashing drum section. “Colorado Bluebird Sky” was nothing short of spectacular, with Michael Kang in perfect form. Then the boys soothed the crowd with a crisp”45th of November” but brought the intensity back up for the finish with “Sirens” and “Just One Story”. Kang unveiled the fiddle for a “BollyMunster” encore that shook the arena, leaving the audience in a fit of smiles and excitement.
