The legendary Marvin’s Mountaintop is back on the map with the inaugural Deep Roots Mountain Revival Festival, announced to take place September 15-18, 2016 in Masontown, West Virginia.
Headlining the event will be Greensky Bluegrass, Leftover Salmon, and The David Grisman Sextet. The name says it all, as this festival is cultivating an exciting roster that is very much in line with the rich bluegrass tradition of the Appalachian Mountains, while also bringing in some of the very best from the rock, jam, and country genres. The initial lineup is filled out by Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, Shooter Jennings with Waymore’s Outlaws, Larry Keel Experience, Melvin Seals & JGB, Cabinet, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, The Black Lillies, The Hip Abduction and many more.
Marvin’s Mountaintop is known as one of the most heralded festival sites in the country, and has not hosted a major music festival since All Good Music & Arts Festival moved after 2012. Deep Roots will feature local and regional acts in its lineup, as well as work with the community to provide a family-friendly environment for people of all ages and interests.
“First and foremost,” said festival founder Claude Ryan. “We wanted to reconnect the local community with a festival scene that our region had lost.”
In addition to the diverse lineup already confirmed, more artists will be revealed soon, including additional headliners.
