On April 8 and 9, Umphrey’s McGee and TAUK returned to the Southeast and, as always, didn’t fail to bring their best. This weekend marked the first time Umphrey’s has played a two night run at Raleigh’s The Ritz. TAUK opened both nights while Umphrey’s played two full sets both nights.
On Friday, Umphrey’s ended their second set with a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Breathe”, and ended with and Floyd Cover , “Great Gig in the Sky”, with Isaac Teel of TAUK on drums. Fans left in awe on Friday and many returned on Saturday for the second night. Saturday night, TAUK set the bar high with an energetic set comprised of a lot of new material. Umphrey’s ended their first set of the night with “Stinko’s Ascension” for the fourth time ever and the first time in 2016. They ended their second set with a crowd pleaser – “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” by the Beatles, with TAUK’s Alric Carter on keys and Matt Jalbert on guitar.
