This past Friday a sizable Asheville crowd ventured down to Asheville Music Hall to experience the meditative-metal that is Consider the Source.
Guitarist Gabriel Marin greeted the eager crowd, declaring that they hadn’t played in Asheville for years and they were excited to be back. Marin has perfected the art of his fretless double-necked guitar, playing wailing melodies that thrill audiences across the country.
The Sci-Fi/Middle Eastern/Progressive Rock/Psychedelic jam band primarily played songs from their most recent album on Friday, but some of their classic songs were recognized and praised as well. Their new album, World War Trio (Parts II & III) is their first recorded material in almost four years. The genuine uniqueness of this band’s music really attests to how cultured and dedicated the three members are.
Nearing the end of the show, bassist John Ferrara broke out in an epic solo that lasted a few minutes long, and the rest of the band joined in for two more songs to finish out the night for a very pleased crowd.
Consider the Source is accustomed to playing at festivals like Mantrabash, Hidden in the Hollow and even Burning Man. With the release of their new album comes a full tour for the next two months. After their tour, they’ll make appearances at Domefest, Hidden in the Hollow, Mad Tea Party Jam and more this summer. You can listen to their albums for free on their website.
