It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Nope, not Christmas – it’s Mantrabash!
The sixth Mantrabash Music and Arts Festival takes place September 24 to 26 between Boone and Wilkesboro in the small community of Ferguson, North Carolina.
With past headliners including bands like Particle, The Werks, Dopapod, Zoogma and other regional artists, festival coordinators really pulled out all the stops this year with some of the biggest names in the festival’s history.
Ozric Tentacles, United Kingdom’s originators of the jamtronica genre, will be Thursday night’s headliner. Beginning in the late 80s and never breaking since, they have released almost 30 albums over the last three decades. With this kind of history and versatility, Orzic Tentacles will be one of the most anticipated sets of the weekend, accompanying BIG Something, TAUK and the funk grass seven-piece Dr. Bacon on Thursday night’s schedule.
Bernie Worrell, a two-time Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame member for his work with the Talking Heads and Parliament-Funkadelic, will be sitting in with none other than The Mantras for a Talking Dead set on Saturday night, which will include a plethora of mashup songs from both the Talking Heads and the Grateful Dead. Later that night festival headliner EOTO will take the stage. EOTO is the percussion section of The String Cheese Incident’s electronic, improvisational side project. No two EOTO shows will ever be the same, as jam legends Michael Travis and Jason Hahn create the live dubstep right on the spot.
Late night sets on Friday will feature Empire Strikes Bass and Electronic Love Machine, with The Fritz ending the weekend late Saturday. Other bands not to miss will be The Broadcast, Consider the Source, Imperial Blend, Nomadic and The Southern Belles.
Aside from the music, there will be plenty to do on site at Mantrabash, like cool off in the river, enjoy amazing art, check out some of the workshops, play disc golf with the Innova-inspired disc golf holes, or play on giant-sized corn hole boards.
Tickets and more information are available here. See you at the Bash!
